This is a very effective, yet rather simple technique, to add fake rain to a photo in Pixelmator. Being from England originally, I've never had any problem with getting photos of rain, but if you live in a sunnier climate, I'll show you how to use Pixelmator's filters and layers to add fake rain to a photo.

Don't be put off by thinking that this technique may be too advanced for you, as even complete beginners should be able to follow these simple steps and create a convincing photo filled with fake rain.

This tutorial will make use of the Noise and Motion Blur filters, and also show how you can use blending modes and the Levels adjustment tool to combine layers in creative ways.

If you don't have a copy of Pixelmator on your Apple Mac, before heading off to the App Store, you may want to take a look at our introduction to Pixelmator to see if it could be the right image editor for you.

The next few pages will show just how easy it is to add fake rain to a photo in Pixelmator.
