There's no simple way to generate a list of files within a directory under Windows without using DOS commands. However, if you own the popular ACDSee Photo Manager, you can easily generate a list of files. These instructions apply to ACDSee 9 Photo Manager and later. I also have instructions for generating a file list in earlier versions of ACDSee.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 2 minutes
Here's How:
- Open ACDSee.
- If the Folders list is not showing, go to the View menu, and click Folders.
- In the folder tree, click on the folder for which you want a file list. If you want a list of files from multiple folders, click the box next to each folder you want to include. (See Tips below.)
- Go to Database > Export > Generate File List (or press Ctrl-G on your keyboard).
- The file list will open in your default text editor.
Tips:
- If you select multiple folders, the files will be in one flat list. If you want the contents of each folder listed separately, you should generate the list one folder at a time.
