Generate a List of Files With ACDSee Photo Manager

By Sue Chastain, About.com

There's no simple way to generate a list of files within a directory under Windows without using DOS commands. However, if you own the popular ACDSee Photo Manager, you can easily generate a list of files. These instructions apply to ACDSee 9 Photo Manager and later. I also have instructions for generating a file list in earlier versions of ACDSee.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 2 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Open ACDSee.

  2. If the Folders list is not showing, go to the View menu, and click Folders.

  3. In the folder tree, click on the folder for which you want a file list. If you want a list of files from multiple folders, click the box next to each folder you want to include. (See Tips below.)

  4. Go to Database > Export > Generate File List (or press Ctrl-G on your keyboard).

  5. The file list will open in your default text editor.

Tips:

  1. If you select multiple folders, the files will be in one flat list. If you want the contents of each folder listed separately, you should generate the list one folder at a time.
