The Bottom Line
-
This book is broken into hour-long lessons,
with the purpose of teaching in a form that
allows information to be retained. A Question
and answer section at the end of each chapter
helps to consolidate what has been explained
in that hour.

Learn SVG in Bite-Sized Pieces
This book was recommended as a good source of information
about SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), a new Web language
which can produce small file sizes. I think it does
the job well. The format used is tried and tested,
and is used in all Sams 24 hour books. If you start
at the beginning and work through to the end, then
you should be pretty close to expert. There are programs
that will create SVG as WYSIWYG, but at this stage
they don't go far enough, and a lot of detailed text
coding needs to be done. Books like this one are aimed
at helping with that side of SVG. I found the book
easy to follow, but would have liked some colored
text to help in ascertaining different sections of
code. Sams books are found in most bookstores and
can be inspected before purchase, which is what I
would recommend.
