Adobe Announces Photoshop Elements 3.0
I haven't actually seen Photoshop Elements 3 yet, but I have been reviewing some pre-release documents. It's looking like Elements 3 will be incorporating most of the functionality of Photoshop Album, while keeping the editing power in previous version of Elements along with some new tools and enhancements.
Here's a list of some new features that looked exciting to me:
- Tags, Collections, Timeline and Calendar view, carried over from Photoshop Album.
- Full screen photo review and compare.
- Stack similar photos together so they only take up one space in the photo browser.
- Spot Healing Brush and Healing Brush carried over from Photoshop.
- Camera Raw support and 16-bit color support.
- Automatically divide scanned photos, for scanning multiple photos in one scanner pass.
- Histogram palette carried over from Photoshop CS.
- Cookie cutter tool for framing your photos in shapes.
- Filter Gallery carried over from Photoshop CS.
- Photomerge enhancements--now you can keep photos on separate layers after merging.
- Photo Mail--use styles in your photo emails instead of attachments.
- Includes many of the sharing options from Photoshop Album-slide shows, calendars, greeting cards, photo albums.
- Backup and archive your photo collection.
What I have seen so far looks pretty exciting. Of course, I'll have a more in depth review after I get a good look at the product, so stay tuned!
