If you can't afford to purchase software, you can still find free software to create and edit images. Tell us your favorite free photo editor for Macintosh and why you like it! Suggest Your Favorite
Pinta
- I think that one of the higher listed ones should be Pinta. It's a lot like Paint.NET For windows, and it's free. It works greatly and it does all the jobs I want. Plus it's a real Mac App, you don't have to wait for X11 to load. The code is based off of Paint.NET.

I like these FREE Apps!
- I use several free GREAT Image Editing programs for Mac OS X that are not listed here. CosmicPainter (http://www.garagecube.com/download/), LiveQuartz (http://www.rhapsoft.com/?menu=livequartz&lng=en), Paintbrush (http://paintbrush.sourceforge.net), and (my favorite one of these 4) the free version of Image Tricks (http://www.belightsoft.com/download/download.php#imagetricks).

Open Source GIMP
- The only viable image editor I use is GIMP. I have it under four operating systems and it works fine. I also use Open Office 3.01 and Scribus. I am trying to become an Open Source expert so that when I retire in 2 years, I can teach this in schools with limited budgets. Charles L. Mims
