My System
My computer is a self-built Intel 2.5 GHz quad-core with 8 GB ram running Windows Vista 64-bit. Dual monitors, of course. Currently, I have a stack of Wacom tablets which I am still reviewing. The compact HP Wireless Elite keyboard is great because I can move it to the top level when I use a graphics tablet. Trackball is the Kensington Expert Mouse.
On another desk behind this one, I have a 2006-era MacBook Pro. The backlight recently died on it, so I have to use it with an external monitor. I use Synergy KVM software so I can move my wireless keyboard between the two systems without unplugging the receiver.
Other Equipment
The awesome pine desk was custom built by my Dad from my design. The small screen in front of the portrait monitor is a Logitech Squeezebox Touch network music player which provides a steady stream of tunes to my headphones--wireless, because I hate feeling tethered to my PC! The iPod touch recently replaced an aging Dell Axim as my portable brain.
Not shown in the photo are my beloved Herman Miller Mirra chair in terra cotta, Dell 3100cn laser printer, a Canon scanner, UPS battery backup, and HP MediaSmart Windows Home Server with 2 TB storage.
What I'd do differently
- I'd love to have a home office all to myself instead of sharing with my husband who also works at home full time.
Is graphics your occupation or a hobby?
Both. Writing about graphics software is my occupation. Working on graphics projects is my hobby.
What type of graphic projects do you do?
Photo editing, photo art, photo retouching, greeting cards.
What graphics software do you use?
Which one's DON'T I use?
Anything else? (inspiring music, your view, etc.)
Music and sweet iced tea are essential. I prefer the view of the side yard and woods beyond over the view of my husband's cluttered workspace behind mine.
