About the Digital Painting
Using Corel Painter and a Wacom Tablet, I paint on a blank screen taking color and compositional ideas from my drawings or personal photographs which were built and manipulated in Photoshop.
Software and Techniques Used
I alternate between Corel Painter 11 and Photoshop CS4 using the tools from each to get the colors and textures I want. I usually paint very freely in layers fading them into the composition. I build detail and then smear it with a camel hair brush fading that back into the work. Less is more. Then I tweak the painting with the color, sharpening and contrasting controls in both programs.
- Take time each day to play with the programs and explore new possibilities to manipulate the medium.
What software and hardware do you use for digital art?
iMac 27inch, Wacom Tablet Intuos4 Large, Epson Stylus Pro 7800, Corel Painter 11, and Photoshop CS4.
When and how did you get started in digital art?
I was a traditional artist, printmaker and painter, but found myself wanting to play in Photoshop rather than work in my studio. So, I decided to find out how to make digital art my new medium. My main medium was Stone Lithography. My art literally went from the stone age to the digital age.
