About the Digital Painting

My 3 and a half year old niece, Molly, painted this on my iPod touch using the Jackson Pollock app.

Tools and Techniques Used

The Jackson Pollock app is 99 cents from the app store. My niece Molly painted this on my iPod touch. She is always wanting to play on my "gray thingie" so I opened up this app and let her have at it. The app is so simple, it was easy for her to get the hang of and it kept her entertained for a good hour--which is pretty impressive for a 3 and a half year old!

Advice

  • Avoid apps with advertising for kids. The Jackson Pollock app doesn't have ads so a child won't keep clicking on them my mistake.
  • For younger kids you probably want to leave the app set to random colors, as I did when Molly painted this painting, but you can also choose colors to paint with in the Jackson Pollock app.
  • Show the child how they can paint with multiple fingers on the screen at the same time, and how the paint drips when the screen is held upright.
