About the Digital Painting
First off, don't laugh. I freely admit that I'm a novice at this. These are two pictures I did one evening when I was brainstorming for some projects for my site. Done in a free app. They are entirely out of my head although I did use a color palette from an iPhone color app I'm writing a review of as color inspiration for the jug (that blob the dinosaurs are climbing on). Also, I did make use of the silly little stamps in the app. The rest was just me trying to figure out how to draw little lines with too big fingers.
Tools and Techniques Used
Painted with my fingers and what you see is straight out of the app with no further processing. Since I've never really done much of this digital finger painting before I have no real technique. I drew the picture of the jug and the checkered tablecloth and saved each of those first then brought them back into the app as backgrounds and proceed to paint, draw, smudge, stamp, and undo frequently.
And because the second picture might not be obvious enough... that's a top view of a coffee cup with spoon... it's a clock (9:05)... or something.
Advice
- If your app allows it, save intermediate steps frequently so you can start over without starting from scratch when things get out of hand.
- Start with the freebie apps if you're not sure if this is something you're going to do a lot.
What hardware was used to create this finger painting?
iPhone 4
What software app was used to create this painting?
Doodle Buddy (It's free) (Extras "purchased" and used were the Glitter Drawing Tool, 44,000 Color Spectrum, and Dinosaurs Pack for DB)
What do you enjoy about digital finger painting?
I'm much more comfortable drawing on paper or with a mouse or with a graphics pen than with my finger... maybe with a larger surface such as an iPad I might get into this more. But I did somewhat enjoying challenging myself to try to draw something semi-recognizable.
