Version Reviewed (i.e. PaintShop Photo Pro X3):
PaintShop Photo Pro x3Approximate Date of Purchase:
Sept 2009My Review
I previously owned the x2 version and it was okay, but I would only give it 3 stars. The X3 version is definitely a dud, especially Project Maker. The project maker add-on (and I use the term loosely) shuts the program down when trying to activate a Project such as Calendar Maker, Card Maker, etc. The only thing in the Project Maker section that works is the Slide Show Project.
I have tried numerous configurations and re-installations for win 7(64 bit) with much time wasted and much frustration. For the likes of me, I cannot figure out why it has such a high rating. Somebody is being paid off to rate it high. Tech help is worthless. There are bugs that the programmer needs to take back to the drawing board.
I am still trying to find a well-constructed Photo Editor. I like AVS programs but I wish they would put a little more effort in their Photo Editor program. Their video editing is a great and simple editor along with their other programs. And very reasonable too!
If anyone knows of a good reliable photo editing program, I would like to hear about it. I miss my old Microsoft Picture It (10) program. It had some very easy editing applications to use with XP Pro 3, but needed upgrading for win 7.

Best Attribute:
Lots of nice special editing features.
Worst Attribute:
Hard to maneuver through the program. Too many unnecessary features for the average user. Definitely not a beginner program. The programmers need to make the most-used features separate from the more advanced features. The task and menu bars are not easy to maneuver.
Was PaintShop a good value for the price paid?

Tips and Advice:
If you are a novice, stay away from this program and if you are an average editor it could be useful, but be aware, you'll have to spend a lot of time with it to get used to the menus.
