Go to the File Menu and choose "Watch Folders..." This dialog lets you specify folders on your computer that you want Elements to watch for new pictures. If you enable the checkbox and add folders to the watch list, any photos you put in these folders will be detected by Elements and you can choose to add them to the Organizer. So files you receive by email, for example, will be detected as long as they are saved in a folder specified here. I suggest you choose the "Notify Me" option for watched folders because you might not want every file always added to the Organizer. With the "Notify me" option, you get a thumbnail preview and select which images to add. With the "Automatically Add" option, you will still be able to delete unwanted images.
For the Editor we are going to keep it simple and stay with the default Preferences. At any time as you work through this course, if something does not seem to be working as it should, you may need to reset your preferences back to default. The easiest way to do this is to hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys as you are launching Elements. When, prompted, choose Yes to delete the preferences file.
