Choosing File > Attach to E-mail
Pressing Ctrl-Shift-E
Clicking Share > E-mail from the shortcut bar.
If you haven't yet set your E-mail Preferences, you will get a dialog box asking you to choose your default email program. Next, a new Window will appear with previews of the photos you have selected, a section to select recipients, and several other options (described below). If you want to add or remove photos from your selection you can do so using the Add and Trash buttons below the thumbnail previews.
Tip: After I have imported a new batch of photos into Elements, one of the first things I do is go through them and mark the best of the bunch with the "Favorites" tag. These are usually the photos I wish to email to people. By marking them with the favorites tag, it's easier to select them from similar photos in the photo well.
Adding Contacts to Photoshop Elements
Next you will need to choose the recipients for the e-mail. Although you can add contacts to Adobe Album and select recipients here, it is not required. After choosing options in this screen, Album will open your default email program and you can choose recipients there. If you don't choose recipients in Organizer, however, Elements will not be able to keep a record of who your photos have been mailed to. This can be a handy feature, so I suggest you add your contacts to the Organizer as you need them. Elements does not provide a way to import an existing address book, but most likely your list of photo recipients will be much smaller than the number of contacts you regularly correspond with.
To add a contact to Photoshop Elements:
- Click Add Recipient and enter the person's name and e-mail address.
- Keep the "Add to Contact Book" option checked if you want the recipient saved to use again.
- If you wish, you can use the Edit Contacts link to add more information for each contact, such as phone numbers and addresses.
The Edit Contact button will also allow you to create Contact Groups. You may want to create a contact group for all the members of your immediate family; that way you only have to check one recipient box to have the e-mail go to everyone in your family.
To create a Group:
- First you must have all the individuals entered in the contact book.
- Click the New Group button, enter a group name, and double click each of the names you would like to include in the group.
- When all the names are added, click OK and your new group will be shown in the Contact book with a different icon than the one for individuals.
- Click OK to exit the contact book and you'll also see your group in the recipients list.
After you have added some recipients to Elements' Contact Book, you can tick the check boxes next to each of the names for the people you want to send your photos to. Next you'll need to choose the format for your e-mail.
The E-mail format options in Photoshop Elements are:
I'll explain these options on the following pages. Go ahead and play around with each them as you read this lesson. You can go through all the options to create the e-mail, and then close the e-mail before sending if you just want to try out different settings.
