| Free Photoshop Actions from Your Guide | |
Scroll down for some free actions for you to turn your photos into a cartoon in Photoshop 6.0 or 7.0. They may work in earlier versions, but I have not tested them. Feel free to pick the actions apart and examine them to learn how each of the effects was created. If you find these files useful, I would appreciate a link back to this site [http://graphicssoft.about.com/]. Enjoy!
Special Note: These effects would not have been possible if I had not been inspired by Richard Lynch's technique for splitting luminosty from color as explained is his outstanding book, The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2. Even if you don't use Photoshop Elements, it's loaded with useful information. Click the title to compare prices. These actions have been tested in Photoshop 6.0 and 7.0, but may be able to be used in Photoshop Elements with the help of Richard Lynch's Photoshop Actions Tool for Elements, however, I have not tested this.

These small Web images do not portray the effects as nicely as they will appear when applied to a larger image. Five cartoon effects are included in the action set. You will need to highlight the actual action (not the set) in the actions palette before the play option will become available. If you like these cartoon effects, check out my tutorial and kit for adding text bubbles and speech balloons to your photos.
