Multiple Planes in Vanishing Point

The Vanishing Point tool introduced in Photoshop CS2 now allows you to work with multiple planes connected at any angle. In Photoshop CS3 Extended, the vanishing point tool also allows you to take measurements in perspective, and export perspective grids as 3D models to DXF, 3DS, or VPE formats.

Zoomify Export for High Resolution Photos

Instead of down-sizing your high resolution photos, you can export them to the Zoomify format to allow Web visitors to view the full resolution detail, even over low-speed connections. Initially visitors will see the entire image, and the Zoomify Viewer provides controls for users to zoom in to see details or pan around the image by dragging in the viewer. Users do not need special browser add-ons, as Zoomify is powered by the Adobe Flash Player already included with the common Web browsers.

Device Central

Device Central is a new design tool integrated across all the CS3 products and suites. Device Central helps you design for mobile devices and test your designs for specific handsets. It contains all the information necessary to design for hundreds of specific devices, and allows you to create Photoshop documents with all the necessary settings for a particular device.

Other Improvements in Photoshop CS3 Standard

  • Lightroom integration ensures that changes you make in either Photoshop or Lightroom are always consistent between the two programs.

  • A new maximum zoom level of 3200%.

  • An "Add to swatches" button in the color picker.

  • Windows Vista compatibility.

  • Support for Intel Macs.

Photoshop CS3 Extended features for Motion Graphics

  • Edit video files on a frame-by-frame basis.
  • Cloning and healing over time.
  • Output video footage for use in other applications.

3D Support in Photoshop CS3 Extended

Photoshop CS3 Extended supports 3D layers for 3D models which allows you to interact with 3D models by scaling, rotating, and moving the model in three dimensional space. Your 3D models can be combined with 2D images such as textures, right in Photoshop Extended.

Other Features Only in Photoshop CS3 Extended

  • Set the scale of an image based on a known measurement, then calculate other measurements based on this scale.

  • Record measurements in a log and export them to plain text CSV files for use in other applications.

  • A Count tool allows you keep a tally of elements in an image simply by clicking on them. The tally can then be recorded in the measurement log.

  • Support for DICOM files used in the medical industry.

  • MATLAB Support for researchers and scientists.
