Menu Icons: You can add icons to the text menus. The main benefit of this is quick reference. With the icons visible in the Menu Bar, you will subconsciously learn to recognize which icon goes with which command (and there are lots of them to learn!). To add icons to the menu, right click the toolbar and select 'Customize'. The 'Customize' dialog box will appear (shown above). Under the 'Menu' tab, check the Menu Icon box (bottom left). Select Close. Choose any menu in the Menu Bar to see that icons are now associated with each command.
Animated Menu: Under the 'Menu' tab you'll also find the menu Reset button and an option for 'Menu animations'. In the drop down list the choices are None, Unfold, Slide and Fade. Try it. Choose one of the menu animations from the list and click Close.
- Unfold: This is a cool effect; menu expands out from top left corner.
- Slide: Menu slides open from top to bottom, like it's unfolding one line at a time.
- Fade: Menu opens gradually from faded to fully visible.
- None: A non-animated menu. None is the default setting.
Now choose something from the Menu Bar to see the effect in action. You can always change back to none if you don't like the effects.
