Adding Text Using Paint Shop Pro Tools, Part 2

merge layers
Duplicate the 'text' layer as many times as needed. There must be the same number of 'text' layers as there are animation frames. If you have 2 frames in your animation like I do, you only need to duplicate 'text' layer one more time. If you have 6 frames in the animation, you will need to duplicate 'text' layer 5 more times. Right click 'text' layer on the Layer Palette, select Duplicate. Repeat as many times as necessary.

Next we'll merge the text layers with the image layers:
1. Turn off layer visibility* for everything except frame 1 and one copy of text layer.
2. Now select Layers > Merge > Merge Visible* from the main menu (see screenshot).
3. Turn off layer visibility* for everything except frame 2 and one 'copy of text' layer.
4. Select Layers > Merge > Merge Visible.

Repeat these steps for all layers until you have the text merged with each animation frame.

*PSP v.7 & older: Turn off layer visibility by clicking the 'eyeglasses' on the layer button.
*PSP v.8 & newer: Turn off layer visibility by clicking the 'eye' in the column immediately right of the layer button.

IMPORTANT: When done, turn visibility back on for all layers before returning to Animation Shop.

Now go back to Step 5: Return to Animation Shop and follow the remaining steps.
