Create Dotted Seamless Pattern
We'll be using the 2 patterns shown above for our page background and mats. I will make these patterns in different colors that coordinate with the color of the Alphabet Block letter for each page. You can skip this step if you already have the pattern tiles you need.Dotted Pattern
This dotted pattern is 2 colors a medium or dark shade with white dots spaced in alternating rows.
Create a new raster image: 18x18 pixels with a medium/dark color background of your choice. I'm using sage.
We'll use the Grid tool as a guide when creating these patterns. Change the grid size by selecting View > Change Grid Guide Snap Properties.
In the dialog box under the Grid tab change the current image grid size to 2 pixels for both horizontal and vertical. Click OK. Turn on visibility for grid by selecting View > Grid
Change foreground/stroke color to white and use the Paintbrush tool to paint 2 white dots as follows:
- Shape: square
- Size: 2 Color White
- Hardness & Density: 100
- Blend Mode: Normal
Using the Grid overlay as a guide, place 1 dot in the upper left square. Count down to row 5 and over to column 5 and place the second dot. This 2nd dot should have 4 squares of the background color above it, 4 squares to the left, 4 to the right, and 4 below.
Turn off Grid overlay by selecting View > Grid again. Save but keep the file open.
