Saving the Pattern For Future Use
Using the Pattern with Text

Here's an idea for using this pattern with text. Maybe for a scrapbooking page! (I reduced scale of pattern to 25% to fit text.)

You have a few choices of where to save this file and how to use your pattern tiles.

You can simply save the pattern just like any other file and, because PSP recognizes any open file as a pattern, just open the file when you want to use it. Or you could add it to the Material palette so that it will always be available as a pattern.

To add your patterns to the Material palette, PSP needs to know where to look for them. This is done by listing the location of the folder in File > Preferences > File Locations > Patterns.

Some people prefer to keep patterns with the PSP program files and some keep them in a special folder under My Documents.

1) To save to the program files, the file location would most likely be: Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 8\Patterns

2) To save in My Documents, the file location would most likely be: My Documents\MyPSP8 Files\Patterns

I say 'most likely' because everyone has their own preferences for setting up their computer and I can't know for sure what folders are being used. My own preference is to keep all my files under My Documents rather than with the PSP/Program Files. I have separate folders for patterns, textures, brushes, plugins, etc. All these files stay grouped together no matter what version of PSP I happen to be using. It also works well because I don't have to re-arrange anything when a new version of PSP comes out!

Now that you have a cover pattern, you can write your own cook book… or at least make some recipe cards!
