With this tutorial we'll create a custom, seamless pattern tile that can be used for webpage backgrounds, email stationery, custom text, CD covers, calendars, greeting cards, scrapbooking, or many other things!

The pattern we'll create today is the red and white check pattern many of us are familiar with seeing on the table cloths and a popular cookbook. Sometimes called 'tablecloth checks' or 'tablecloth plaid'... it's perfect for recipe websites or for framing your picnic photos!

This tutorial is suitable for beginners and was written for Paint Shop Pro version 8. Any version of PSP can be used to create a pattern tile, but tool locations and tool names may be a little different than those described here for PSP 8. Just write to me if you have trouble locating a tool!

We'll actually be creating TWO patterns! After we create pattern #1 (basic gingham), we will modify it to create pattern #2....the Cookbook Chex!

PATTERN #1

Open new image, enter the following into dialog box and click OK.
Width: 100
Height: 100
