Opening Images Using The Organizer
In the previous lesson you learned how to open a new document and use the Save command to save the file. This option gives you the opportunity to choose from various file formats. If necessary, you may review the various file formats for which one you should use and when.
In addition to using the File > New command to open a new image, you can also use Paint Shop Pro Photo's Organizer. By using the Organizer you are able to see your images in thumbnail (small preview) format. Simply click the thumbnail of the image you would like to open and drag the image to the workspace. You will notice the cursor change as you drag the image.
You can toggle the Organizer off and on. If you do not see your Organizer Palette, click the Toggle Organizer icon in the menu bar. Starting at the top left corner of the Organizer, you have several icons to assist you in organizing and managing your photos.
Organizer Menu Bar - Contains a sub menu of options for renaming your images, refreshing the view, as well as opening recent and additional folders.
Organizer Mode - Allows two different modes, which affect how the Organizer behaves. In Document Mode, PSP displays the Organizer in an image window that you can move and resize within the workspace. In this mode, the Organizer can hide behind other open image windows. When the Document Mode window is active, the menu system and toolbars are inactive.
In Palette Mode, PSP displays the Organizer as a palette, which can either float or be docked at the bottom of the main window.
- Delete Image - Deletes the selected image.
- Thumbnail Zooming - Controls the size of the thumbnails in the preview area.
- Rotate Right & Left - Rotates the image to the respective direction 90 degrees.
- Quick View - Shows a full screen slide show of the folder.
- Image Information - Provides information about the image such as the name, date taken, and EXIF data.
- Print Contact Sheet - Prompts PSP to print a contact sheet of the folder in view.
- Send as Email - Sends the image via email.
Please note, at present this works best only with Microsoft Outlook. It will work with Outlook Express but you will get repeating error messages that it will not. They are working on a fix for this. Please check with Corel for patches and updates.
The area that is not shown on the screenshot gives you two more options; Search and Order Prints, which are self-explanatory.
