Exercise: Saving a File
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo Basics - Lesson 1

By , About.com Guide

Now that we have our plain white file opened, let's see about adding a little something to liven it up. First you need to save your image so that in the event of a computer freeze or crash you won't lose all your hard work. Select File > Save As.

The Save As dialog box will display. Browse to the area on your hard drive where you want to store the file and then enter a name for the file in the box shown. Notice how the "Save As Type" field shows the PSPIMAGE extension? By saving your work in Paint Shop Pro's native file format you will retain all layers and make it easier to edit later, if needed.

Note: Clicking the Options button gives you even more options, such as the ability to save in a previous version format. We will study this a bit closer later on in the lessons.
For now, enter your information in the save as dialog, and click the Save button. The dialog box will close and you will see the new image name in the title bar of your open canvas.
