Restoring Detail
You may want to restore some of the lost detail in your image. Remember that revealing too much detail will revert your image to looking like a photo again, so keep it very minimal and in apply it only to strategic areas that will enhance the overall appearance. Choose the Soft Edge Cloner from the Restore Detail palette and very softly stroke over those areas you want to reveal added detail.
Tip: One of the advantages to applying the Smart Blur effect, is that when you reveal lost detail via the Soft Edge Cloner, the effect is very soft and Painterly. Additionally, if you feel your image has lost some punch with regard to color, apply the Equalize effect. To apply the Equalize effect from the Effects menu choose Effects > Tonal Control > Equalize. The effect is immediate; however, you can experiment with the sliders until you find a look you like. Additionally, use the short-cut key Cmd-T ( Mac) or Ctrl-T (Windows) to toggle the Tracing paper; this way you can monitor your work.
