Drawing Ghosts in Illustrator - Little Ghosties

Little Ghosties
Step 1. Use the pencil tool to draw a freeform ghost shape with a white fill and to see it better, a light colored stroke. Go to Effects > Stylize > Add Inner Glow. Experiment with the settings to see what looks best, but use Multiply and change the color to a light gray by clicking on the color swatch to open the color picker. Enter #BBBBBB in the hex color box and click OK. Make sure Blur is set to Edge, and you can experiment with the Opacity setting. 75% worked well for me. Click OK. Remove the stroke and add facial features.

As a Halloween treat, here's a set of free Halloween symbols for you to use in your Halloween projects. These work with Illustrator CS and up. These symbols are for personal use only unless written consent is acquired from the author.
