Spider - Constructing the Pincers

Constructing the Pincers
Use the ellipse tool to draw two small circles and overlap as shown. Select both, and in the pathfinder palette, click the Subtract from Shape Area button to remove the top circle from the bottom one and make a crescent shape. Fill with a color (I used gold) and use the Reflect tool as in step 4 to flip and copy the pincer. Position the pincers on either side of the head. Add small red circles for eyes (you might have to zoom in close to see where to place the eyes), and select the head and pincer pieces and cmd/ctrl + G to group them. Position them at the top of the spider's body, and use the bounding box to reszie the spider head to match the body. Use the align palette as before to line them up. Select all body and head pieces, and group.
