When we started seeing touch sensitive input areas on Wacom tablets, I wondered how long it would be before they came out with fully touch enabled pen tablets. Well, that time has come. Introduced in September 2009, Wacom's latest family of Bamboo tablets offers both pen and multi-touch input capabilities. The new Bamboo product line includes 5 redesigned Bamboo tablets, each with unique capabilities and benefits.
- Bamboo Touch (touch-only)
- Bamboo Pen (Pen-only)
- Bamboo Pen and Touch (pen and touch)
- Bamboo Craft (pen and touch)
- Bamboo Fun (pen and touch)
Bamboo's touch functions work very much like the track pads found on most notebook computers and touch-screen devices, only the Bamboo gives you a much larger active area and you also have the option of switching to pen input on some models. Touch input is not pressure sensitive like pen input is, so if you dreamed of finger painting in
Corel Painter, it doesn't quite work that way.
The Bamboo tablets include an interactive tutorial which teaches you how to work with touch gestures and pen input.
