Next we remove the white background.
Click on the Select by Color Tool and click on the white background surrounding the snowflake. This should make a reasonable selection, but if not, it may help to click the Reset to Default Values button in the Tool Options palette. To remove the white, go to Colors > Color to Alpha and Select > None to remove the selection.
