It's simple to emboss text using Adobe Fireworks CS4. For those just starting out, embossing makes an image, object, or text appear raised from off the canvas or inset into it. It's done with the use of Live Filters (previously called Live Effects).

You can emboss text onto a solid canvas color or on a background image. It's done the same way for both, but for this tutorial I'll be using a background image. To follow along, right click on the below link to save a practice file to your computer, then open the image in Fireworks.
