Can Educational Software be Used in a Business for Commercial Purposes?

Question: Can Educational Software be Used in a Business for Commercial Purposes?
Can educational software be used in a business for commercial purposes?
Answer: It depends on what is stated in the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the specific title. In most cases it is permitted, but some companies don't allow education version to use used for commercial purposes. For instance, Macromedia's EULA specifically says: "Education Versions may not be used for, or distributed to any party for, any commercial purpose." I don't see how it's enforceable, but that's what it says. As far as I know, Adobe does not have this exclusion in their EULA, but you should check to be absolutely sure.
