There's no simple way to generate a list of files within a directory under Windows without using DOS commands. However, if you have the free XnView image viewing software, you can easily generate a list of files.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 2 minutes
Here's How:
- Open XnView.
- If the folder tree is not visible, go to View > Folder Tree.
- In the folder tree, navigate to the folder for which you want a file list.
- Press Ctrl-A to select all items.
- Go to the Create menu and choose "File Listing..." (or press Shift-L on your keyboard).
- The "Generate File listing" dialog box will appear where you can choose which file information you want included in the list.
- Click OK and the file list will open in your default text editor.
