Web Page Creation, HTML Export, and Image Optimization
I was a bit skeptical of the new HTML creation features in PhotoImpact 6, but after some experimentation, I found it quite effective. You can compose an entire Web page directly in PhotoImpact and export the complete page as an HTML document. PhotoImpact takes care of the image slicing automatically and gives you complete control over the format, optimization settings, and other attributes of each slice.

Web Page Slicer
Here's the Slicer window where you can select and define the attributes of each slice. As you make modifications to the page, you can preview the output in your Web browser and, when you're satisfied, export it with a single click.

HTML Text Entry BoxWith the HTML text command, the text you add to your Web page will always be exported as HTML formatted text (unlike some image editors and layout programs with Web page creation features that export the entire page, including text elements, as graphics).

Although the Web page creation features in PhotoImpact are quite powerful, they are designed to complement a dedicated HTML editor, not to replace it. Still, for anyone with a basic knowledge of HTML, this can be an incredible timesaver.

Image Optimization
I was extremely pleased to see major improvements in the image optimizer, particularly for GIF export.

GIF Optimizer
This animated screen shot shows all three tabs of the GIF Export options.
Now you have much more control over the color palette with options to edit individual colors, snap to the nearest Web safe color, lock down colors to prevent color shifts, selectively delete individual colors, and more.
