New: Photoshop 7.0 is now available!

Content Layers
In previous versions of Photoshop, we had adjustment layers. Now, new content layers add features and make adjustment layers even more powerful. In addition to adjustment layers, Photoshop 6's content layers includes fill layers. Fill layers can contain solid color, gradients, or patterns. The fill can be changed at any time without starting over or disturbing your layer mask. The same goes for adjustment layers... so, if you started out with a color balance adjustment and decide you need to apply a curve adjustment instead, you can just swap them out. Fill a layer with a gradient and then decide you'd rather have a pattern fill, and it's just a couple of clicks.

As you can see,the new layers menu has almost doubled in length. Below you can see the submenu for swapping out the layer contents.

Here's the dialog box for choosing a pattern fill for the layer content.
