Adobes mad scientist Russell Preston Brown works with the new Liquify option in Adobe Photoshop 6.0.
7. Now, heres where we use some magic to control the way the pixels are displaced over the image. From the Freeze Area, choose the channel you created earlier and click the Invert button. Inverting the image will change where the image will be distorted the most. The distortion will be greater in the transparent rather than the darkareas of the flag image. Experiment with distortion by inverting the image whenever needed.

Hint
The pixels that make up the type will move more in the transparent
areas of the flag image than they will in the dark areas.
8. Select a large brush size and a pressure of about 12. The lower the pressure value, the slower the change will take effect. Lower pressure lets you paint the distortion in slowly for more control.

If you find it difficult to see the freeze channel, you can
change its color from the View Options menu at the bottom right
of this dialog box.
9. Paint right to left across the top of the type and see the pixels move down in the transparent areas. Paint across the top in the other direction, and they come back up. Paint left to right across the bottom, and the pixels move up. The advantage of this technique is that you can make the text follow the perspective while still flowing it into the contours of the image.

Experiment!
Your results will vary, depending on your file and its channel.
Try painting from bottom to top, and then invert the channel
and paint from top to bottom. You may get better results.
10. As a final touch, reduce the brush size and paint across the middle of the type to distort it. Once the type is distorted as youd like, click OK.

Saving
the Distortion
You can save the distortion adjustments you make in the Liquify
dialog box and re-use them on other layers. Heres how:
Press the Shift key when you click OK in the Liquify dialog
box. Select another layer, and then choose Image > Liquify
while holding down the Shift key until the Liquify dialog box
appears. Your most recent adjustments will be applied to the
new layer.
11. Now, for the all-important final step: With the type layer still selected, from the mode pop-up menu select the appropriate mode for your project. In this case, we used Darken. Test some of the other options to see if they might give you a better result. The results you get will be determined by the color and contrast between the two layers.
