| Pump Up the Color in Painter 8 | |
In a single photograph, there are two methods in Painter 8 to target colors and pump up the saturation. Both are simple and easy to work with.
Method One:
- Open your image in Painter.
- Clone the image
- Work on the "Clone of" version
In this sample image there are three skirts. We are going to change the color saturation on two of them so there will be three different versions at the end.

Select a skirt with the rectangle marquee tool.

CHOOSE: Effects > Surface control > Dye concentration (image luminance or uniform color)
Adjust the sliders to your preference. It will preview in real color.

DESELECT the selection
Select > All > None

To clean up the selection be sure the CLONE SOURCE is selected as the original image before it was cloned.
Use the SOFT CLONER brush to clean up the edges and bring back the original image wherever it was over saturated.

Save the new image
using SAVE AS with a new name.
Proceed to other sections of the image to saturate using the select tool again.
METHOD TWO:
Use the SATURATION BRUSH in Photo Brushes to brush on color saturation wherever
needed.

Remove the saturation in the areas it is not needed by using the same method as above using the CLONE brush to bring back in the original image.
Each saturation method gives a different amount of control and it's up to the artist to decide which one to use when. I personally use the SATURATION PHOTO BRUSH often.
To review, here is the image with all three skirts. One not touched with any saturation, the left one with DYE CONCENTRATION and the middle one with PHOTO BRUSH.
