Interest/Experience with graphics software: Hobbyist

Operating System: Windows 9x

I made that collage for my Dad. He writes theater plays, books and poems. I thought it would be nice to have something that he can use on his webpage and on his notepaper. The collage was created from different pics, the one with my fathers portrait, the other with the books and the pen. I used a layer mask to make them look like they fade into each other. Then I added some text of one of his books and the leaf with a brush I found for free on the net.

What graphics software do you use on a regular basis?
Photoshop LE, Corel Photo-Paint, MGI Photosuite

What was the first graphics program you learned?
MGI Photosuite

What is your all-time favorite graphics program and why?
I guess it is Photoshop because it offers so much.

How long have you been working with graphics software?
about 3 years, Photoshop since last year

How do you use graphics software in your day-to-day activities?
Mainly for personal stuff like greeting cards or designs for t-shirts, but once in a while I do things I really get 'paid' in kind.

What is your best graphics tip or piece of advice?
Try, and if it doesn't work out, try again. And keep a little bit of the enthusiasm that you had when you were a kid.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I have a vivid imagination ... but most of the time it is music that gives me ideas for pictures. Especially songs by Enya and John Denver...

I got that new Enya CD some time ago, and I immediately fell in love with the lyrics and the music of the song 'Only Time'... so that's why I made that picture. Since I'm not able to draw I found my way to be a little bit 'creative' and to express myself.

... these are the eyes of my friend Annie. She and I, we are really a crazy duo. I had a portrait and I just wanted to play around with some Photoshop filters.

Guess I like playing with eyes. This is my sister's eye. I took it with a very simple digital camera. I had two lovely backgrounds that I merged together and then put in the eye. Eyes are plain fascinating...

I used a rubber stamp I bought in Vancouver last year, scanned the print and removed all the 'dirty' parts. Then I cut the tail in two pieces and flipped the end in a horizontal direction, so that the tail wasn't like an 'U' any longer. I used some filter to make him look like he has a lizard skin.
