"The Boise Tower" - this image was created from an AutoCAD model
and then developed further in 3D Studio VIZ. The final render
was also created in VIZ, with some additional tweeking in Photoshop.
What
graphics software do you use on a regular basis?
AutoCAD, 3D Studio, Photoshop, Bryce, Vue D'esprit
What
was the first graphics program you learned?
AutoCAD
What
is your all-time favorite graphics program and why?
Photoshop, just because it's so much fun and there are so many
different applications for it.
How
long have you been working with graphics software?
13 years
How
do you use graphics software in your day-to-day activities?
Architectural modeling and illustration - I build 3d models
for every project of varying complexity. I then choose the most
appropriate rendering engine based on the final result I want.
Almost every project also needs some Photoshop adjusting at
the end as well.
What
is your best graphics tip or piece of advice?
Always be on the look out for that new piece of software that
will create the effect(s) that you want. It doesn't always have
to be $3000+ program to do the trick - picking up Bryce has
really changed how I approach 3d rendering.
Where
do you get your inspiration?
Mostly from observation - I live in New York, so there's a lot
to take in both in the city and simply from nature. I am also
inspired by past artists - it's important to remember that 3d
software is just a tool, never a style.

"The Boise Tower" - created using the same process as before,
except that there is a watercolor effect achieved with Photoshop.

"Atrium rendering" - this image was also created from an AutoCAD
3d model, but I used Bryce for the rendering instead of 3d Studio.
Bryce allowed me to get more of a pastel feel for the background.

"101 2nd St - San Francisco" - this image was rendered in Vue
d'Esprit, mostly because I wanted to see trees up close. As
before, I applied a watercolor effect in Photoshop.

"Abstract Architectural Rendering" - this image is a raw Bryce
rendering of a model imported from AutoCAD.
