Interest/Experience with graphics software: Hobbyist

Operating System: Windows 9x

This piece was done as a challenge for the PIRC Bulletin Board WET Challenge Forum. We were provided with the picture of the lilacs and asked to produce an edited version in any form of our choosing. I used PhotoImpact's Effects to produce the black and white drawing and then the rest of the picture suddenly came to me! I used Selection Tools, Lighting Effects and the Path and Painting Tools to achieve the finished picture.

What graphics software do you use on a regular basis?
PhotoImpact 6 - nothing else is needed!

What was the first graphics program you learned?
Art Dabbler by MetaCreations

What is your all-time favorite graphics program and why?
PhotoImpact 6.... because you can do just about anything with it and a LOT easier than with other programs! Also it has a great back-up community on the web - especially the PIRC group.

How long have you been working with graphics software?
About 2 years altogether - but since September 2000 with PhotoImpact.

How do you use graphics software in your day-to-day activities?
Creating graphics for my website - and my husband's site. Also for personal use such as stationery and greetings card, editing photographs, etc.

What is your best graphics tip or piece of advice?
BUY PHOTOIMPACT 6!!!!! Cultivate patience.

Where do you get your inspiration?
From observing everything around me as closely as I can.

I made the pattern for this stained glass myself as part of another Challenge for the PIRC Bulletin Board. I also made a lot of the glass I used myself using photographs, PI6 and the Eye Candy plug-in.

This was one of my first attempts to recreate a piece of furniture we actually own at home. It was all made with the Path Tool - except for the picture on the wall which was from a royalty-free CD, the leaves which were downloaded from another PI site and the roses on the pottery - which came from a free background on the web.

The original of this was on a National Geographic CD - however the copy is drawn freehand using the Path and Painting Tools in PI6.

An African Unity Mask from Ghana - drawn using the Path Tools in PI6 and wood/metallic fills. I made the background from a stock photograph.

The clock was drawn in PhotoImpact 6 using the Path Tools and Text Tools - using a photograph for guidance. The animation is just two frames and was done in ULead's Gif Animator 4.
