Interest/Experience with graphics software: On The Job
Operating System: Windows 9x and Mac OS

The wizard was scanned into PhotoShop 5.5 from a pencil drawing.
There, all the colors were added using a full compliment of
channels, layers and gradients. The resulting image was imported
into Fireworks in order to animate the stars. The original PhotoShop
file is 65mb (resolution of 300).
What
graphics software do you use on a regular basis?
Adobe Photoshop is my mainstay, the current version 6 is awesome!
I also use: Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia
Fireworks, Ulead Cool 3D, and Adobe LiveMotion.
What
was the first graphics program you learned?
CorelDraw 7, but I never really had any success with it. Not
very intuitive.
What
is your all-time favorite graphics program and why?
Photoshop 6, 'natch. Although, each program has its own specific
purpose in life. I will use whatever I need to get the effect
I want, but am most familiar with Photoshop for my basic image
and designs.
How
long have you been working with graphics software?
Since, oh, about 1999. Give or take.
How
do you use graphics software in your day-to-day activities?
I have a full time (day) job unrelated to graphics of any sort.
About a year ago, I started my own business in Web design, with
graphics a BIG part of it.
What
is your best graphics tip or piece of advice?
Experiment to your heart's content. Read and try everything
you can that interests you. There are MANY different ways to
do things: keep trying different approaches until you find one
you like. It's not like you are going to ruin anything, after
all, every program has at least 1 undo!
Where
do you get your inspiration?
Everywhere. The Web. Books related to design. Books not related
to design. Art. Other people. Life. Dreams. Doodling. Wherever
I can.

This is one of my earlier pieces. Created entirely on the computer,
first in Illustrator (outlines) and then imported into Photoshop
5.5. The mane and tail were done with brushes I made, the glass
frame was done in Illustrator.

Also sketched in Illustrator, finished in Photoshop 5.0. When
I started this project, I only had a trackball. Near the end
(for the fur) I got my Wacom tablet and haven't looked back
since!
This is a recent experiment in creating stained glass that I
will be using for a website. Everything HAS to be on its own
layer for the effect to work, but it's great fun to create!

A further exploration into digital stained glass. The textured
glass effect is created using a graduated fill, to which several
filters have been applied. Then, the color layer is multiplied
to it, and has a curves/adjustment layer to give it "richness".
Quite a neat effect.
