Software Used: Corel Photo-Paint 8, Alien Skin Eye Candy
1.)
I started with a simple image of an ink splat. First of all,
it's the wrong color so I'll need to change the color to black.
I use the magic wand mask tool in subtractive mode
to click in the white area. By using subtractive mode, all the
non-white areas become selected. I go to Mask -> Shape ->
Feather, and use a width value of 1 pixel to soften the edge
of the mask slightly. Now that the pink areas are selected,
I can fill the ink splat with a dark gray.
2.) With the gray ink splat still selected, I use the Eye Candy filters to apply the glass filter. I use these settings:
- Bevel Width: 5
- Bevel Shape: Rounded
- Flaw Spacing: 100
- Flaw Thickness: 20
- Opacity: 0
- Refraction: 15
- Glass Color: White
- Highlight Brightness: 75
- Highlight Sharpness: 10
- Lighting Direction: 140
- Inclination: 48
3.) Next, because I want to lower the opacity of the ink splat, I'll need to take it off the background and make it an object. I create an object from the selection (Object -> Create -> Object Cut Selection). Then I fill the background with white.
4.) Next, I use the text tool to type the initials SC using Teletype for the font, a size of 120, anti-aliasing on, black fill.
5.) I selected the ink splat object and reduce the opacity to 50 using the slider on the object docker.
6.)
I selected the SC object and reduce the opacity to 30 and change
the merge mode to subtractive.
And there you have it!
