Alien Skin has come up with another winning set of filter effects. Unlike their previous plug-in sets, Splat! provides "content-powered" effects, which are based on a variety of source images. The six filters will have you creating frames, textures, edge effects, borders, mosaics, and patterns quickly and easily. There are hundreds of content files provided with the software, but you can also create and add your own for endless variety. Like other Alien Skin filters, the interface is straightforward and easy to use with a large preview area and multiple undo/redo. The boxed version includes a thorough user manual with descriptions of every option, previews of content files, and instructions for creating your own content files.
