Reveal Hidden Fun Facts in Adobe Illustrator (Easter Egg)

By Sue Chastain, About.com

Easter Eggs are hidden program features, purposely included by the developers. They often reveal secret screens and messages. Here's how to reveal fun facts hidden in Adobe Illustrator versions 5 through 9.
Time Required: N/A

Here's How:

  1. Open Adobe Illustrator (any version from 5 up).
  2. Go to File > New.
  3. At the bottom of the window in the status bar area, there is a menu that displays the current tool (by default). The menu can be changed to display other options by clicking on the menu.
  4. Hold down Alt+Shift (Windows) or Option+Shift (Mac).
  5. While holding down these keys, click on the menu and you will have additional options to display several fun facts.

Tips:

  1. The hidden options may vary depending on your version of Illustrator. Some include the Moon Phase, Eyes, Days 'til Christmas, Mouse Clicks, and Random Number.
  2. Hitting the Shift key when "Illustrator Units Sold" is displayed will change the number.
