Roxio PhotoSuite (formerly from MGI Software) allows you to perform many different types of correction to digital images from one place. Here's how to remove red eye, whiten teeth, conceal blemishes, and smooth skin tones with the touchup brushes in PhotoSuite 4.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 15-30 minutes
Here's How:
- Choose Get from the Main menu, select a source and open the photo you want to correct. You will automatically be sent to the prepare area after opening your photo.
- If the tools are not showing, activate them by selecting Tools from the View menu. The tools you will be working with are the Touchup Brush tool, the Zoom tool, and the Undo Eraser tool.
- Use the Zoom tool for getting in close to the areas you will be correcting. You can use the zoom in and out buttons at the top of the screen, or use the zoom tool and drag up on an area to zoom in, or drag down to zoom out.
- To whiten teeth, choose the Touchup Brush tool. Set the effect to lighten. Set the brush size slightly smaller than the teeth, and set the intensity to about 20. Carefully paint over the teeth to lighten them.
- To remove red eye, choose the Touchup Brush tool and set the effect to remove red eye. Set the intensity to 100 and paint over the red areas in the eye until the red is gone.
- To conceal blemishes and scars, choose the touchup brush tool and set the effect to remove blemishes. Vary the brush size and intensity for more or less of the effect. Take care to avoid areas of fine detail.
- To remove wrinkles and smooth skin tone, choose the touchup brush tool and set the effect to soften. Vary the brush size and intensity for more or less of the effect. Take care to avoid areas of fine detail.
- Use the Undo Eraser tool to restore portions of the image if you overdo your correction. Set the opacity lower if you want to fade a previously applied effect and not undo the changes entirely.
Tips:
- The clone tool can be used for very obvious scars and blemishes.
- If you apply more than one touchup effect to an area and then use the eraser, the eraser will erase all the effects applied to that area.
- Don't try to remove red eye by painting over or darkening the red area. If you do, it will also paint over the glistening highlights in the eyes and cause the eyes to look hollow and lifeless.
