Set CorelDRAW So 100 Percent Zoom Is Actual Size

By Sue Chastain, About.com

The default setting in CorelDRAW is such that when the zoom level is set to 100%, it shows 100% of the page, instead of showing the page at 100% (actual size). The steps below will change the settings so that 100% zoom level equals actual size.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Go to the Tools Menu and choose Options.
  2. In the Options dialog, select Workspace from the left panel. Make sure the Workspace tree is expanded or click the + sign to expand it.
  3. Click the plus sign next too Toolbox to expand the tree.
  4. Select the Zoom, Pan Tool and check the box labels Zoom Relative 1:1.
  5. Click the button labeled Calibrate Rulers.
  6. Hold a ruler up to your monitor and adjust the resolution amounts for both the horizontal and vertical measurements until both on-screen rulers match the real ruler.
  7. Click OK to all dialogs to return to CorelDRAW.

Tips:

  1. A bug in CorelDRAW versions 10 and 11 causes the zoom level to revert to less than 100 percent when you have any dockers attached to the application window. To prevent this you must close or float your docker palettes. (You can dock them all together and float the grouped dockers by dragging them away from the edge.)
  2. Explore the other areas of the CorelDRAW Options Dialog for additional settings you can adjust to enhance your productivity.
  3. You can save your custom settings as a new Workspace to preserve the default settings or to allow several users to save their own custom settings.
  4. Pressing F8 while starting CorelDRAW will restore factory default settings. This is useful for troubleshooting problems in CorelDRAW.

What You Need:

  • CorelDRAW
  • A Ruler
