FreeHand Discontinued by Adobe

Monday May 21, 2007
A post from John Nack in his blog last week confirmed what many of us had been suspecting since the Adobe-Macromedia merger was announced. It's now official--the cross-platform, vector-based illustration software FreeHand has been discontinued.
Adobe does not plan to develop and deliver any new feature-based releases of FreeHand, or to deliver patches or updates for new operating systems or hardware. Adobe will, however, continue to sell FreeHand MX, and will offer technical and customer support according to our support policies.
The FreeHand product pages on Adobe.com have not been updated yet, but a FAQ document explains the details and provides information for users who wish to migrate to Adobe Illustrator CS3.

This is such a bummer, I hope at least they add the page tool to Illustrator, its such a handy tool.

I am very upset that Freehand is being discontinued. Freehand has many more useful tools for workers in the Pre-Press and Printing Profession. I really hope that they will take a good long look at Freehand and at least take some of the great aspects of that program and incorporate them into Illustrator 3 (which in my opinion is much harder to work with).
