Let it Snow... or, Make Your Own Snow!

Wednesday November 21, 2007
Snow!Looking for some snow or snowflake effects to add to your graphics projects this year? I've got it covered!

The snow-covered text effect shown here is part of my free layers styles #2. I also have several different formats of snowflakes, stars, and frames you can download to spruce up your Christmas and holiday projects.

Another way you can add snow to your photos and graphics projects, is with VanDerLee's Snowflakes or SnowScape plug-ins. Both of these plug-ins are free and they work with any photo editing software that supports Photoshop-compatible plug-ins. The VanDerLee plug-ins are for Windows only, but for both Windows and Macintosh, there's also the Snow Drift filter from the Eye Candy: Nature collection.

A couple of years ago, I learned about the Make-a-Flake Snowflake Maker, a Flash Shockwave site where you can use virtual scissors to cut snowflakes out of paper. Then you can save your snowflakes to a gallery, or download them to your computer in JPEG or EPS format to use in other software.
