Digital Image Conservation and Preservation

Thursday November 3, 2005
"The best way to preserve your digital images is to print them with archival inks on archival paper and put them in a dark place." That's what Owen Ransen of Ransen Software says in his article on Digital Image Conservation and Preservation. I can't say I entirely agree, but he does make some good points about the longevity of digital media. That's why I advocate making multiple copies of your photo backups and revisiting them at least once a year to verify readability and compatibility. If you do prefer to print your photos, his article offers some practical tips on preserving your prints.
