Brace Yourself for a Retouching Challenge

Ken needs help in the discussion forum... "I've been struggling with these braces for a few days now. I've tried cloning, healing brush, blur, and painting, but haven't been successful at removing the braces without leaving objectionable discolorization in their place. Hey, this is Photoshop CS! There ought to be a way. Any ideas or techniques you are willing to share would be welcome." Pop on over and lend your expertise.
