Follow-up on my Wacom Woes
It wasn't long after that post that Wacom got in touch with me with some additional troubleshooting suggestions and assurances that a new driver was coming soon. A week ago, I was given access to the new driver and it did cure the cursor freezing problem, but not the other keyboard problem I had been having. Long story short... Patty Page over at Wacom really deserves a virtual high-five for sticking with me through this, and for four days now everything has been working in harmony.
I'm not entirely certain, but I think the keyboard problem had something to do with the proximity of my wireless keyboard and mouse receiver in relation to the Wacom tablet. After finding this Microsoft article, I decided to try moving the receiver closer and bundling the cord. (Previously I had tried moving it, but I was always moving it farther away because I thought my original documentation said it should be at least six feet away.) Anyway, that seems to have done the trick, and I'm thrilled. Soon I'll have a real Wacom Intuos3 review, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, existing Wacom users may want to download the new Intuos3 drivers for both Windows and Macintosh. Windows users might want to take advantage of this tip from Patty so you don't lose any customizations you've made in the tablet control panel:
"I also recommend that people making a lot of helpful customizations, back up the pref file when you get it the way you want it. That way if something requires uninstalling or deletion of the dat/pref file you can just drop the backup into the system32 folder and you are off and running again without reconfiguring the settings. That filename on your system would be tablet.dat located in the system32 folder."Patty also recommended I try the felt tip nib that comes with the Intuos3, and I'm really glad I did. I was previously using the "springy" nib (sorry, can't recall its official name) and I liked it for painting and drawing, but it wasn't as good for precise pointing and clicking. This felt tip nib seems to grip the surface of the tablet a lot better than the plastic nibs, so it doesn't feel as slippery on the surface. You'll see what I mean when you try it!

Hi, Thank you very much for posting this. I updated the driver but still having the same problem. Is your wacom working fine after the driver update?
This post is 3 years old. Yes, my Wacom’s are all working fine now.
It is funny that many people don’t notice the date on what they read on the Internet.
I’m afraid I’m also of of them.
