Q&A: Better Quality VCD Slide Shows
Friday August 8, 2003
Patrick writes, "After reading your review of Adobe Photoshop Album and my use for the past 90 days, there is one major flaw--the software does not burn quality VCDs. Do you know of photo editing software that enables the user to put slideshows of pics on to DVDs at MPEG-2 quality? Under $100?"
A: I think Adobe does some additional compression on the slide show images which adds to the quality issues you mentioned. You may want to look at Photodex ProShow Gold which does offer MPEG II output, but you may find even the MPEG I output is better than what Adobe Photoshop Album offers. Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album and Simple Star PhotoShow are two others I have reviewed, but I don't recall whether or not they support MPEG II for VCDs.
